We use industry-leading security practices like 128-bit AES encryption on all data transmitted from the car adapter to and from the ray and your phone and up to the cloud.
Ensuring your data is secure is one of the reasons we build our own hardware.
2.2. Your data is yours. Our job is to take care of it.
The data created when you drive is securely hosted on our servers and is yours to explore, download and use. You can also stop using GOFAR at any time and we will permanently delete your data from our servers at your request.
2.3. We anonymize data to create interesting insights.
We use aggregated, anonymized data to do research on driving patterns and vehicle performance, which we may publish. We may also create and sell industry reports, e.g. the most common engine problems for different car brands. These reports are based on aggregated and anonymized data—they will never contain your identity or other personally identifiable information.
2.4. Sharing data – competitive leagues.
Competition and shared achievement plays a big part in helping to achieve GOFAR’s goal of making driving cheaper, greener and safer. To this end, we encourage our users to participate in our driving leagues and communities. You can opt out from this feature by contacting us at support@GOFAR.co.
Personal information includes information or an opinion about an individual that is reasonably identifiable. For example, this may include your name, age, gender, postcode and contact details. It may also include financial information, including your credit card information.
3.1. How does GOFAR collect your personal information?
To use the core functionality of the services, you must first complete the registration form at within the App and agree to our Terms and Conditions. During registration you will be required to provide personal information such as your name, email address and vehicle(s) details.
There are several other opportunities on the services for you to share personal information about yourself with GOFAR. This may include information about you such as your car and activities, your routes, your name, and your address and e-mail address. GOFAR will also collect your credit card or other payment information if you choose to become a GOFAR Member. If you choose to share any personal information with GOFAR, GOFAR may store it and use it for internal research and other GOFAR marketing purposes, including e-mailing you with special promotions and other programs of interest. If the information is sent as part of a services evaluation, GOFAR may also use the information to contact you about your comments. GOFAR will use your email address to send you regular updates on the service as well as tips to help you improve the efficiency of your driving and news about GOFAR. You may opt out from our email list at any time by following the ‘unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
You may decide to send GOFAR personally identifiable information in an e-mail message which might contain information or inquiries about GOFAR’s products or services. GOFAR will use this information to identify you as a GOFAR member and to respond to the electronic mail. GOFAR will only use the information obtained to resolve the issue identified in the e-mail. GOFAR never sells e-mail addresses. You may change or request deletion of your personal information by contacting us at support@GOFAR.co.
On our Site, we use a technology called “cookies.” A cookie is a piece of information that the computer that hosts our Site gives to your browser when you access the Site. When you visit the Site, a cookie will be stored on your computer. Generally, cookies work by assigning to your computer a unique number that has no meaning other than for the Site. GOFAR’s cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can change your browser setting to prevent it from doing so. Not accepting cookies may make certain features of the Site unavailable to you.
Like most standard web site servers the Site uses log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the Site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. GOFAR may use Google Analytics as a method of tracking site statistics and user behavior on the Site.
By visiting the Site, you consent to GOFAR in using the data in the log files to administer the Site and to assist in diagnosing problems with GOFAR’s server.
3.2. What is your personal information used for?
Information about you and your use of the Site may be aggregated with other information collected on the Site or otherwise used in ways that do not personally identify you or constitute personally identifiable information. This type of aggregated or statistical information may be used by us to improve the quality of the Site or for other purposes that we may deem appropriate.
We anonymize and aggregate the data we collect across many users and may share this aggregated data with our affiliates, business partners, and users. The aggregated data does not identify you personally. We may also disclose aggregated user statistics in order to describe GOFAR to current and prospective business partners and to third parties for other lawful purposes. Examples of anonymized and aggregate data include the average morning work commute time of our users, and the average monthly cost of petrol of our users.
GOFAR uses a credit card processing company to process your credit card information as required for your order and to ensure that your transaction is secure. This processing company does not retain, share, store or use your personally identifiable information for any other purposes.
3.3. What information does GOFAR collect?
When using our services, drivers gain access to information on the use and operation of their vehicles to enhance the driving experience and improve vehicle performance. Our services (“Services”) are enabled by a hardware device which plugs into your vehicle (the “GOFAR device” or “Hardware”), a smartphone app (“App”), and our website.
When using the Hardware, the App, and our website, you may provide us with and we may collect the following types of data (“Personal Data”):
(b) mailing or street address;
(c) email address;
(d) telephone number and other contact details;
(e) age or date of birth;
(f) credit card information;
(g) information from your vehicle’s onboard computer;
(h) information about your vehicle’s operation;
(i) vehicle location information;
(j) your device ID, device type, geo-location information, computer and connection
(k) details of the products and services we have provided to you or that you have
(l) any additional information relating to you that you provide to us directly through information, statistics on page views, traffic to and from the sites, ad data, IP address and standard web log information; enquired about, including any additional information necessary to deliver those products and services and respond to your enquiries; our website or app or indirectly through your use of our website or app or online presence or through other websites or accounts from which you permit us to collect information;
(m) information you provide to us through customer surveys; or
(n) any other personal information that may be required in order to facilitate your dealings with us.
By choosing to use our Service, Hardware, Site or App, you consent to us collecting your Personal Data. You consent to us transferring the data back to Australia, the United States and Europe where we and our service providers are located.
3.3.1. Information from your vehicle’s onboard computer
To enable our Services, we may collect and store information about the vehicle into which you plug the GOFAR device. Examples of the type of information we collect from the vehicle’s onboard computer and sensors include, but not limited to: data from the mass air flow sensor, which helps us to calculate fuel efficiency; and diagnostic trouble codes, which help explain why the vehicle’s check engine light came on.
3.3.2. Information about your vehicle’s operation
We may collect information about your vehicle’s operation to provide you with feedback on your driving habits. For example, we collect data on hard braking, hard acceleration, and speed. Using this information, we can provide you with insight into your driving style that can help you save on gas and vehicle wear and tear.
3.3.3. Vehicle location information
We may collect information on the location of your vehicle, including your trip route. Trip routes allow you to review a particular route that you’ve driven, the fuel cost associated with that route, and the length of time the particular route takes to drive. The App uses your smartphone’s location services (GPS, WiFi, cell tower triangulation) to record its location as you drive.

We may collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:
(a) to enable you to access and use our Services, Site or App;
(b) to operate, protect, improve and optimize our Services, Site or App, business and
(c) to send you service, support and administrative messages, reminders, technical
(d) to send you marketing and promotional messages and other information that may our users’ experience, such as to perform analytics, conduct research and for advertising and marketing; notices, updates, security alerts, and information requested by you; be of interest to you, including information sent by, or on behalf of, our business partners that we think you may find interesting; sponsored or managed by us or our business partners; any of our users, and enforce our agreements with third parties; and
(e) to administer rewards, surveys, contests, or other promotional activities or events

(g) to consider your employment application.
We may also disclose your personal information to a trusted third party who also holds other information about you. This third party may combine that information in order to enable it and us to develop anonymized consumer insights so that we can better understand your preferences and interests, personalize your experience and enhance the products and services that you receive.
3.5. Who has access to the information GOFAR collects?
Our team at GOFAR needs access to your information so that we can provide Services to you and help you if you contact us for support.
(a) our employees and related bodies corporate;
(b) third party suppliers and service providers (including providers for the operation of our websites and/or our business or in connection with providing our products and services to you);
(c) professional advisers, dealers and agents;
(d) payment systems operators (eg merchants receiving card payments);
(e) our existing or potential agents, business partners or partners;
(f) our sponsors or promoters of any competition that we conduct via our services;
(g) anyone to whom our assets or businesses (or any part of them) are transferred;
(h) specific third parties authorized by you to receive information held by us; and/or
(i) other persons, including government agencies, regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies, or as required, authorized or permitted by law.
We do not share personal information with companies, organizations and individuals outside of GOFAR unless:
(a) GOFAR has your consent;
(b) GOFAR determines that it is required to do so by law, such as in response to a court
(c) GOFAR finds that you are in breach of its terms and conditions or any of its policies
(d) it is necessary in GOFAR’s opinion to do so to prevent, investigate, detect or order or subpoena; or usage guidelines for specific products or services; prosecute criminal offenses or attacks on the technical integrity of the services or GOFAR’s network; of GOFAR or its employees, the users of its services, or the public; or
(e) it is necessary in GOFAR’s opinion to do so to protect the rights, property, or safety
(f) it is necessary to fulfill your product or service order.
By using our Hardware, Service, Site or App, you consent to us in sharing your information with the parties described above. To provide you with an enhanced user experience, you may choose to share your information with other people through our App or Site. In these circumstances, your Personal Data will not be shared without your express consent, which is usually given in the form of a web page, email or app screen where you authorize the sharing of information.
3.6. Is my personal information safe?
We are committed to handling your personal information with respect and care. At GOFAR, we take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorized access, modification or disclosure. We have best-in-class security systems and practices designed to protect your information and to prevent unauthorized access to your data.
Examples of our security practices include:
(a) Sensitive user data, such as account passwords and email addresses, are stored in an encrypted format.
(b) All communications through our website are sent over SSL/TLS connections. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) technology protect communications by using both server authentication and data encryption. This ensures that user data in transit is safe, secure, and available only to intended recipients.
(c) GOFAR applications and infrastructure are regularly tested for security vulnerabilities and hardened to enhance security and protect against attacks.
(d) User data on our database is logically segregated by account-based access rules. User accounts have unique usernames and passwords that must be entered each time a user logs on.

However, regardless of the security precautions taken, no physical, internet or other electronic transmission or storage of data can be fully secure or error free. You should understand this when choosing to use any product or service that includes the physical or electronic storage or transmission of your data.
3.7. Can I delete my personal information?
Your personal information is stored on the GOFAR device, in the App, and on our servers. You can choose to permanently delete your information at any time by deleting the App from your smartphone and writing to us at support@GOFAR.co requesting that your account be permanently deleted.
We will delete your account and personal information within a reasonable time after we receive your request, however your data may remain in our backup data for a period of time after it is deleted from our servers.
3.8. Accessing or correcting your personal information
You can access the personal information we hold about you by accessing the Account section of our App or contacting us at support@GOFAR.co. Sometimes, we may not be able to provide you with access to all of your personal information and, where this is the case, we will tell you why. We may also need to verify your identity when you request your personal information.
If you think that any personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to ensure that it is corrected.
