Danny Adams

Founder

Danny has had a passion for both the environment and motor vehicles from a young age – and he’s been driving from the age of 8 (on his family farm).

As a teen, he developed a strong interest in rockets, launching home designed rockets on the farm – well away from the house!  In his last year at school Danny was one of two Australians selected for NASA Space Camp in the USA and he went on to study Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering graduating from UNSW.

After university Danny spent almost a decade working at technology company 3M.  GOFAR evolved in his spare time out of a desire to reduce carbon emissions created by cars. Drawing on three-dimensional rocket-tracking, machine learning algorithms and displays deployed in Formula 1 cars, Danny set about developing a device that would track car emissions and motivate drivers to reduce them.

After developing the prototype and securing two patents from the US Patent Office he decided to work on GOFAR full time.  He completed the gruelling Founders Institute course, the world’s largest tech entrepreneur training and startup launch program and graduated top of his program.  Using his knowledge from that Danny raised almost half a million dollars in angel funding and launched a highly successful Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign that pre-sold $220,000 of GOFAR units and GOFAR was up and running.

Ian Davidson

Co-Founder

Danny and Ian met whilst at Sydney’s Fishburners co-working space.  Ian is focused on business development, customer research and finance for GOFAR’s multi-award winning connected car solution.

He started his career in travel marketing at TUI, before joining Nestle as a Brand Manager.  Following an MBA from INSEAD Business School in France, he returned to travel marketing this time online in senior marketing roles at eDreams.com (IPO’ed for over $1bn), Opodo.com (bought by eDreams) and Booking.com.

In 2004 he set up online market research agency FlyResearch which specialises in (very rapidly) understanding customers of acquisition targets in Europe, North America and Asia.  He’s used this research knowledge extensively at GOFAR.  Ian completed his BA Hons in Geography at the University of Oxford.

Saving Lives and Delivering Safer Roads

In an innovative 3.5 million kilometre pilot program by SIRA and the NSW Government (plus 1,000 young drivers), GOFAR’s unique real-time feedback cut high range speeding by 40%.

In Australia, hospitalisations from road accidents have been rising from 33,524 (2008) to 37,082 (2015) and speed is a major factor. GOFAR cuts speed safely and simply. If everyone in Australia drove like the young drivers with GOFAR it could save over 100 lives a year.

If you’re keen to innovate like the NSW Government and would like to know about our Safer Roads Programme please reach out to hello@gofar.co for more information.

An Australian startup claims its device has put more than $2,600 into a customer’s pocket for just seven minutes of administration time. Gofar makes small devices that attach to most passenger vehicles, and works like a black box on a plane.
