KEY TEAM MEMBERS

Danny Adams

Founder

Danny had a passion for both the environment and motor vehicles from a young age. The aerospace engineer, who seemed destined for big things since winning a place at NASA space camp while at school, invented GOFAR.

After graduating with an aerospace and aeronautical engineering degree from UNSW, Danny spent almost a decade working at technology company 3M, working on what became GOFAR in his spare time.

GOFAR arose out of Danny’s’ desire to reduce carbon emissions created by cars. Drawing on three-dimensional rocket-tracking, machine learning algorithms and displays deployed in Formula 1 cars, Danny set about developing a device that would track car emissions and motivate drivers to reduce them.

After developing a prototype in 2013, he was granted two patents by the US Patent Office and decided to work on GOFAR full time. He joined co-working start-up space Fishburners in Sydney and completed a course run by The Founders Institute, the world’s largest tech entrepreneur training and startup launch program.

After graduating top of his program, Danny raised almost half a million dollars in angel funding. A subsequent Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign then raised US$160,000, well over the US$50,000 goal.

Saving Lives and Delivering Safer Roads

In an innovative 3.5 million kilometre pilot program by SIRA and the NSW Government (plus 1,000 young drivers), GOFAR’s unique real-time feedback cut high range speeding by 40%.

In Australia, hospitalisations from road accidents have been rising from 33,524 (2008) to 37,082 (2015) and speed is a major factor. GOFAR cuts speed safely and simply. If everyone in Australia drove like the young drivers with GOFAR it could save over 100 lives a year.
