LogbookMe is ideal for fleet managers with big budgets who need a wide range of extra compliance options.  It’s mature software that comes with OBD2 hardware (so it’s reliable like GOFAR) but it comes with a contract and monthly fees of up to $40/month so it’s  best suited to bigger corporates.  If you frequently find yourself forgetting to update your logbook, then the LogbookMe app is a piece of good news for you.

After you have completely set up the app, it will automatically start and end your trips and then prompt you using a smartphone notification to complete your trip details and classify them.

The app also comes with a calendar integration that helps you to classify your personal and business miles.  You could just classify your trips as you go of course but if you forgot then this is handy.

Another advantage of this app is that it is cloud-based. This means that you can manage and access all your information from a web browser through the LogbookMe website.

4. ATO Vehicle Logbook

This app comes from the Australian tax office themselves, (so skip ahead if you’re in the US, Canada or UK!).  It has the same weakness that all apps have – specifically they all require a bit more work than a hardware based solution because you have to keep the odometer records up to date, check the app is always open (apps crash a lot) and of course you have to make sure it only tracks your business trips.

For government software though this is not bad and we’ve seen worse!  The app can be used with a fleet as well as for multiple logbook periods.

It has a simple approach towards logging your miles and reporting the same to your employer, accountant or tax agent.

Also, you can record expenses, generate reports and view them on visual graphics.

The logbook can be downloaded either in CSV or PDF format and sent directly to your line manager or accountant through an email.

With Vehicle Logger app, you can store or share your data using cloud platforms such as One Drive, Box, Dropbox, or Google Drive.
