Every fleet owner and driver should have the best mileage tracking app to avoid the repetitive and boring work of logging their miles manually with pencil and paper.

And just imagine if you do a pen and paper logbook and lose it before you hand it your accountant?  Nightmare!

Fortunately, the hard work is nowadays done by the smartphone using some awesome logbook apps, in some cases further aided by simple, plug in hardware.

Many apps help the drivers to gather IRS, HMRC, CRA and ATO compliant data and create reports that can be sent directly to the accountant or the employer when needed.

Tell you what, logging miles in handwritten logbooks is obsolete. Below are the most important and super useful logbook apps for fleet drivers.

The GOFAR logbook solution is made by an Australian telematics team to automatically track all the business mileage expenses that a busy fleet driver incurs.

This ATO Compliant logbook app comes with a companion OBD2 hardware device.  It just plugs into your vehicle’s OBD2 port and pairs with your smart phone.  After that it automatically tracks and logs your relevant trip data which can be exported into a Microsoft Excel sheet or emailed to your accountant with odometer readings, time and date stamps according to the ATO and IRS rules.

If you use the same car for personal and business purposes, logging mileage can get a bit complicated. But NOT if you have GOFAR logbook app.

Classifying business and personal miles cannot be easier.  All trips appear in the app – simply swipe a trip to the right to classify it as business.

One other great strength of hardware solutions, like GOFAR, is that it always records all your trips and only your trips.  Some of the solutions below only have an app – which means they might record trips when you are a passenger in another car (or train!) and if you forget your phone or the battery dies then no trip is recorded at all.  Watch out for that!

GOFAR also has a unique accessory called the Ray which can save you as much as 30% on fuel consumption.  This is huge for drivers who earn their living through driving.  The Ray has a Fuel Saver algorithm which finds your engines sweet spot where it is most efficient.  When you’re in the sweet spot it glows blue.  When you’re wasting money it goes red!

Giving every fleet driver and owner peace of mind paired with numerous other benefits makes GOFAR logbook app the best bang for your bucks.
